Researching the history and all uses of paper, I decided to craft a paper robot, featuring its crafty use of origami and forming shapes and objects with just a touch of glue, as well as the current movement of trying to save trees and making everything digital. The thought from paper to digital was realized by researching about the very first uses of paper, where in around 200 BC paper was used as a substitute for silk in China for trade (via Silk Road) and for displaying information (similar to papyrus and parchment).
The paper robot is a representative model of the current movement from paper to digital technology. With the robot being made of paper, it shows that we are currently in the moment of switching over. Switching over would save trees where paper is made up of, easily exchange and reuse information, and stop paper from simply becoming trash after it is no longer needed. At the same time, however, there are many reasons to continue using paper: digital technology consumes much energy and power, staring at screens becomes horrible for the eyes, it is costly to simply keep the information available, millions of servers worldwide are powered to store information, etc.
