This painting by John Pugh uses trompe l'oeil to fool the viewers into thinking this is a 3D image.
I was actually fooled while sitting in the parking structure of Nordstrom rack and TJ Max. While with my friend I kept swaying back and forth saying "is that a painting?".
Eventually made my friend walk with me closer to see.
The sheer size, taking up an entire side of a four story building, makes it even more impressive.
There's even potted plants and children who onlook the wave that bring more dimension, maybe even some humor to this painting.
It invited me to "climb right in" and was slightly disappointed that my mind was seeing an impossible proposition.
If you're ever in the ward area check out the side of the building connected to Phucket Thai and see how you react to it.
(I swear I was not stoned or intoxicated)
