Each of the dollars (out of 13) were measured and cut into 1/2" strips and then glued end to end with some gorilla glue.
After having a length of about 30ft I rolled it up and sat it in a 1:2 elmer glue and water bath. While leaving in the solution I twisted one end into the twine I needed to make a whip.
Here is 26.5ft of money twine. I learned that you lose quite a bit of length of the original strips when it is twisted into twine. This matters because after that I had to readjust all my measurements.
As said in my presentation in class, I did a lot of dallying around for hours before I made myself cut up my own money. After the success I wanted to celebrate and crowned my creation.
I didn't add a cracker but I did make this handle on the end by rolling and bending pennies. I would have used a more valuable coin, but with the tools I have at home and copper being so pliable I opted for that .(Disclaimer: remember the penny powered battery project and how it required pennies after 1982? Here is where I put the pre-'82 pennies to use.)
I think it's finished at this stage and doesn't necessarily need a cracker to read or even function (because I whipped myself accidentally while testing it out). I'm open to more critique so please feel free to comment.
