Spaghetti Man
1993
polyurethane rubber, faux fur, plastic
Spaghetti Man is one of many of McCarthy's works to "focus attention on [the male] genitalia as the locus for acting out the masculine prerogative."
The figure, some sort of half human-half bunny hybrid, seems to come out right out of a fairytale in which he befalls the unfortunate unintended consequence of a request to enlarge his junk. The "penis" measures 40 feet in length and ends in an abrupt right angle. It seems to question the male obsession with penis size and begs the question, "Is bigger necessarily better?"
