Trying not to get so hung up on puns and witty jokes, I began researching repurposed art that might make a statement. Then I came across Steve Davis’ “Tong People”. As a blacksmith, he repurposed his tongs on a steel beam, posing these inanimate objects, bringing them to life. I can imagine that he must have thought to himself, “these tongs have so much character/history, I can’t just get rid of them.” The way he repurposed the tongs to seem alive accentuate the reason he chose to extend the life of the tongs in the first place.
