Milo Moire creates what are called "plop paintings". In the link below, there is a video provided, where Moire is literally laying eggs or releasing paint filled eggs from her vaginal canal onto a white surface. She then creates and reveals a "ink blot" type of painting. The consistency of the paint with the cracking of the eggs and the simulated birth do create a unique experience. I am trying to gain understanding the satire and/ or the abstract expression. However, I do find it courageous and thought provoking.
I read the article attached to your post. It was more of a bashing on what performance art has become.
This particular piece does seem to be hmmm unoriginal in the sense that fertility and empowerment of women has been expressed in such similar ways before that it doesn't seem effective.
This does bring into question if performance art or art in general is in a "dark age". I personally think that it is really hard to surprise this generation that is exposed to so much media and desensitized by issues that still do exist, but are no longer in the oppressive environment it once was.
