This week in class we talked about "What is art?". Erwin Wurm can relate to that discussion because in his ongoing series "One Minute Sculpture", he poses himself or his models in unexpected relationships with everyday objects close at hand (such as the chair shown here), prompting the viewer to question the very definition of "sculpture". Everyone is going to have different responses to whether or not this is a sculpture, but I feel like that's the point, and art is the same. These pieces make you wonder if they are sculpture, and with that, it forces you to define sculpture. When we look at an art piece, sometimes we have to do the same thing.
