Performance art. Skip to 28:30. Then watch the whole video if you would like.
Tracy Emin is a provocative artist that works in many different multimedia mediums and is known
for her intimate and truthful character. She is candid in her experiences and bold in her process.
I witnessed her exhibit in Buenos Aires, where there was a mix and series of her performance art. In the first youtube clip, there are snipits that were in the show. However, I was hoping to find a link to her abortion piece. I found that the abortion piece was the most impactful; it's called "How it Feels", 1996. If there is anyone that is familiar with this work and can find it...please post. This piece was unapologetic and true to the nature of the abortion process. It was honest yet not overly confrontative. Perhaps it could be described as more revealing and shocking. While ingesting her work, I wonder...When does art become part of us and when does the art become us? When do our experiences become catapults to our creation?
Is Emin's work humorous at times or is it deeply rooted in social philosophy?
