Paul Cezanne was a French artist and a painter of the Post-Impressionist era whose work is thought to have helped lay the foundation from the 19th-century conception of artistic endeavour to a new and radically different world of art in the 20th century. This artist was known to be repetitive in some of his work and his brushstrokes are highly characteristic and clearly recognizable as his. With his work, you can tell he intensely studied his subjects before actually painting them. Both Matisse and Picasso are known to have called Cezanne, "the father of us all". From 1890 until his death, Paul Cezanne was had many troubling events occur which made him withdraw further into his painting. Many of his work towards the end was considered to be much different than his original pieces, because he was traveling around before his death. Months before, he stayed at this own studio painting until the time came for him to say goodbye.
